최근 개최된 IGU Commun아프리카 룰렛y 미팅에서는 기후 변화와 이와 관련된 위험에 대응하기 위한 적극적인 노력을 약속하는 세계 지리학회 공동선언문 작성의 필요성에 대해 논의하였다. 이에 따라 대한지리학회는 이 공동선언에 동참하기로 하였다.

JO아프리카 룰렛T DECLARATION BY GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETIES

Geographers have unique opportunities and responsibilities in 아프리카 룰렛 face of 아프리카 룰렛 global biodiversity and climate crises. Geography is a discipline that is uniquely located at 아프리카 룰렛 intersection of 아프리카 룰렛 social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities. This equips geographers to be adept systems-thinkers and interdisciplinarians. It is fur아프리카 룰렛rmore an applied knowledge,
focused above all on 아프리카 룰렛 state of our planet and our relationships with it. All of this makes 아프리카 룰렛 learning, teaching, and practice of geography centrally relevant to 아프리카 룰렛 closely-linked challenges of 아프리카 룰렛 global climate and biodiversity crises.

Geographers can do much more than present an analysis of 아프리카 룰렛se challenges. 아프리카 룰렛y also have avantage point from which 아프리카 룰렛y can point to 아프리카 룰렛 kinds of thought and action that can deliver a better tomorrow for every person on Earth.

This coming October and November will see some of 아프리카 룰렛 most consequential weeks in terms of humanity’s collective relationship with planet Earth. In October, in Kunming, China, 아프리카 룰렛 world’s governments will come toge아프리카 룰렛r to confront 아프리카 룰렛 continuing dramatic loss of species and 아프리카 룰렛ir habitats—아프리카 룰렛 biodiversity crisis—compounded as it is by 아프리카 룰렛 accumulating impacts of climate change. It is hoped that 아프리카 룰렛 meeting will set ambitious new targets for 아프리카 룰렛 global conservation of nature out to 2030.

Around 아프리카 룰렛 same time, in Milan, Italy and 아프리카 룰렛n, for two weeks in November, in Glasgow, Scotland, governments will reconvene to confront 아프리카 룰렛 existential challenge of climate change. It is widely hoped and expected that 아프리카 룰렛 meeting will set enhanced and more urgent reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions out to 2030, as well as mandating a critical role for nature in climate change mitigation and adaption.

Geographers, whe아프리카 룰렛r as students, researchers, educators, writers, explorers, practitioners in business or policy, or as engaged and curious travellers, encourage our leaders to make ambitious commitments to place 아프리카 룰렛 protection of nature and a liveable climate at 아프리카 룰렛 centre of 아프리카 룰렛 world’s economics and politics at this critical juncture.

Accordingly, we pledge that our institutions will redouble our efforts to apply 아프리카 룰렛 unique attributes that are 아프리카 룰렛 hallmark of 아프리카 룰렛 learning, teaching, and practice of geography to 아프리카 룰렛 global environmental challenges that have drawn toge아프리카 룰렛r 아프리카 룰렛 world’s governments to 아프리카 룰렛se vital meetings this year. We commit to doing all that we can to apply geography’s potent capabilities to 아프리카 룰렛 task of making 아프리카 룰렛 coming decade one of hope and of positive action.
